We spent 2022 listening to your water stories, through one on one interviews, public convenings, and participation in your local organization events and public meetings. We have learned so much from the watershed communities, thank you. You have told us that you are worried about water contamination from Superfund sites, Brownfield sites, the implications of planned river clean-ups, storm related flooding, and the future climate change impacts. Many have no idea how to get answers to the issues they face personally and as a community.
In 2022, we received a planning grant from the National Science Foundation which allowed us to begin community outreach upstream and downstream along the Passaic. We learned about the knowledge and resource gaps that exist in three communities: Ringwood, Paterson and Newark. In partnership with local organizations, we hope to develop a network of support so that communities can work together towards our clean water mission.
We are Committed to Clean Water in the Passaic Watershed for Healthy Communities - improving the waterfront, increasing access to the river, responsibly developing the river front land for the benefit of local residents, and improving and protecting clean water supply in the watershed.
